SSHADE Interface

Data access and use are ruled by the SSHADE consortium data policy.

Any use of downloaded SSHADE data in a scientific or technical paper or a presentation is free but you should cite both SSHADE and the used data in the text (exactly as for regular papers: 'first author' et al. (year)) with its full data reference (with its DOI) in the main reference section of the paper (or in a special 'data citation' section) and, when available, the original paper(s) presenting the data (reference(s) provided below).

These references a delivered in the file with '.citations.txt' extension contained in the export zip file of the data.
They are also at the beginning of each 'experiment' and 'spectrum' page of the SSHADE interface (www.sshade.eu)

IMPORTANT NOTE: the links to the experiment data provided through the data DOI are not active yet. This will be implemented in the coming months.

Data citation

Data DOI
The data DOI is the unique identifier of the data, as for a paper in a journal.

The citation is made at the level of the experiment (the 'granule') containing one or more spectra, even if only one spectrum of the experiment is used in your paper (you can specify which one(s) in the text).

The DOI directly links to the experiment containing the data in the SSHADE database infrastructure.

Example:

(replace 'doi:' by 'https://doi.org/' to get the url, but your browser should know that too!)

The last part 'EXPERIMENT_BS_20120803_001.V1' is the UID (Unique ID) of the experiment in SSHADE followed by its version number.

Data reference:
It is automatically and uniquely constructed with some mandatory metadata of the experiment and will always look like:

You can find it (and the DOI) in SSHADE at the top of both the experiment and spectra metadata pages in the block 'Data references'.

Original paper(s) associated with these data:

You can find them in SSHADE in the block 'Publications' of the spectrum metadata page.
It is also given in the file with '.citations.txt' extension that is contained in the export zip file of the data.

SSHADE citation

General SSHADE citation
When you use SSHADE as a data search/visualization/Export tool you should cite SSHADE as follow:

  • Schmitt, Bernard; Bollard, Philippe; Albert, Damien; Garenne, Alexandre; Gorbacheva, Maria; Bonal, Lydie; Volcke, Pierre, and the SSHADE partner's consortium (2018). SSHADE: “Solid Spectroscopy Hosting Architecture of Databases and Expertise” and its databases. OSUG Data Center. Service/Database Infrastructure. doi:10.26302/SSHADE

or the relevant paper(s) (when published):

  • Schmitt B., Ph. Bollard, D. Albert, A. Garenne, M. Gorbacheva, L. Bonal, P. Volcke and the SSHADE partner's consortium (2019): SSHADE: “Solid Spectroscopy Hosting Architecture of Databases and Expertise” and its databases. Journal? (to be prepared)

Citation of SSHADE data model
When you refer to the Solid Spectroscopy Data Model (SSDM) you should cite:

  • Schmitt, Bernard; Bollard, Philippe; Garenne, Alexandre; Bonal, Lydie; Albert, Damien; Gorbacheva, Maria; Volcke, Pierre; and the SSHADE partner's consortium (2019): SSDM: The Solid Spectroscopy Data Model of the SSHADE database infrastructure. Version 0.9.0. SSHADE (OSUG Data Center). Text/Data Model. doi:10.26302/SSHADE/SSDM.V090

or the relevant paper(s) (when published):

  • Schmitt B., Ph. Bollard, A. Garenne, L. Bonal, D. Albert, M. Gorbacheva, P. Volcke and the SSHADE partner's consortium (2019): The Solid Spectroscopy Data Model (SSDM) of the SSHADE database infrastructure (Version 0.9.0) - 1. General structure. Fundamental species and phases, samples, experiments and spectra. Journal? (in preparation).
  • Schmitt B., Ph. Bollard, A. Garenne, L. Bonal, D. Albert, M. Gorbacheva, P. Volcke and the SSHADE partner's consortium (2020): The Solid Spectroscopy Data Model (SSDM) of the SSHADE database infrastructure (Version 0.9.0) - 2. Band lists and parameters. Journal? (to be prepared).

Database structure and interface of SSHADE
When you refer to the code of the SSHADE database infrastructure you should cite:

  • Bollard, Philippe; Albert, Damien; Schmitt, Bernard; Garenne, Alexandre; (2019): The development of the SSHADE database infrastructure. Version 0.9.0. SSHADE (OSUG Data Center). Software/Code. Software.V090

or the relevant paper(s) (when published):

  • Bollard, Ph, D. Albert, Schmitt B., A. Garenne (2019). The SSHADE database infrastructure. Journal? (to be prepared)

Database providing the data

If you use specifically the data of one or two SSHADE databases as a whole you should also cite them as follow:

Example:

  • Ex: Schmitt, Bernard; Bollard, Philippe; Albert, Damien; Bonal, Lydie (2012). SSHADE/GhoSST: Grenoble Astrophysics and Planetology Solid Spectroscopy and Thermodynamic database. SSHADE (OSUG Data Center). Service/Database. doi:10.26302/SSHADE/GHOSST

You can find the citation in SSHADE at the top of the experiment metadata page in the block 'Owner'.
